The Kim Davis Case — Gay Marriage

I know it gets old hearing it, but the truth is the truth — ‘Actions speak louder than words‘.

In Kim’s case, she demonstrates actions through principles — a lost art today.  And what does she get for acting out her belief?  A beating, because she will not think the way she is demanded to.  Her office has five other people to perform gay marriages and they are daily (five in the last week).  But this punk judge insists that she obey him, not really the law.  The fact she stands for what he does not (based on his actions) is reason enough for him to beat her down — to make a point.  Like the left so often does.

Why cannot Americans see totalitarian behavior when it’s in their face?  Our country is out of control and the sheep’le are just baying along..!?  Sick.

The following are a few excerpts from the article (link) following.  Do you think this guy has an axe to grind?  Think he ‘walks his talk’?  At least mom thinks he’s a good guy.

Despite being appointed by a Republican president, Bunning has had other rulings that have riled conservatives.

In 2007, Bunning was part of a three-judge panel on a federal appeals court to overturn a Michigan ban on partial-birth abortion, determining the language of the law to be overly broad with the potential to outlaw other legal types of abortion.

In 2003, Judge Bunning ordered the Boyd County Kentucky School District to allow the Gay-Straight Alliance, a student group, to meet on school grounds.

Boyd County held training sessions on avoiding anti-gay harassment, and penalized students with unexcused absences for not showing up. When parents sued the school district, Bunning ruled in favor of the school district.

Yet he claims to be a good Christian..?!  Unfortunately we have too many Bunnings in this country.

Job Losses in America

The following article comes from the Heritage Foundation regarding Oreo cookies.  We in the U.S. are facing a loss of jobs not seen for over 40 years.  Yet, those running this government refuse to take responsible action.  The only way the public hears of such outsourcing actions is via underground news, typically found on the internet.  However there are some companies outsourcing work outside the U.S. daily and no one knows — by intent.

For example, IBM has reduced its workforce within the U.S. by well over 75% since 1993!!  Yet no one knows.?  It’s no wonder we have so many people looking for jobs worth having..!  Our manufacturing jobs and clothing industry went out of the country, but the promise was that new technology jobs would be available with much higher salaries!!!?  Hmmm…  things don’t always seem to work out the way we’re told..?  But hey, you can still get a job at Burger King or MacDonald’s!?  I think.?

The Daily Signal

by:  Bryan Riley / @BryanGeneRiley — August 18, 2015

The manufacturer of Oreo cookies recently announced plans to move production of Oreos from Chicago to Mexico, resulting in a loss of 600 U.S. jobs.  This should be a wake-up call to defenders of the U.S. sugar program and other job-destroying trade barriers.

The leading ingredient in Oreos is sugar, and U.S. trade barriers currently require Americans to pay twice the average world prices for sugar.  Sugar-using industries now have a big incentive to relocate from the United States to countries where access to their primary ingredient is not restricted. If the government wants people making Oreo cookies and similar products to keep their jobs, a logical starting point would be to eliminate the U.S. sugar program, including barriers to imported sugar.

This obvious connection between the lost jobs and sugar quotas was missed by many observers. According to one online commenter: “This is why tariff[s] on products coming to U.S must be raised.”  That’s backwards. When protectionist policies like the U.S. sugar program lead to offshoring, the response shouldn’t be to pass new laws to discourage such offshoring or to raise tariffs even higher. The response should be to eliminate government policies that encourage offshoring in the first place.

The loss of Oreo cookie jobs should reinforce a lesson on the job-destroying aspect of protectionist trade policies.  According to a 2006 report from the government’s International Trade Administration: “Chicago, one of the largest U.S. cities for confectionery manufacturing, has lost nearly one-third of its SCP manufacturing jobs over the last 13 years. These losses are attributed, in part, to high U.S. sugar prices.”

That lesson appears to be lost on unions that are supposed to represent the workers losing their jobs in Chicago.  For example, The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union consistently has opposed free trade agreements with sugar-producing countries like Australia, Brazil, and Mexico—the kind of trade deals that just might protect their members’ jobs.

So that’s how the cookie crumbles.

Motivation and Character

When choosing a person for a presidential position in this country, we should consider ‘what motivated them’ to do or say what they have in the past — not to mention now.  This is part of the ‘actions speak louder than words’ cliche.

Carly Fiorina is one of the leading candidates that we are supposed to be ‘vetting’ (ourselves) now.  What does the American public know about this woman other than she recently worked for H.P.?  (According to my son-in-law she almost ruined the company before she left!)  So why would we want her to be the country’s leader?  And one more thing, we have a serious problem with terrorism in this country.  Ever wonder what her views are on Islam?

The following article is copied from Redstate.com and it gives us some insight into who this woman is or how/if she thinks.

Why I Don’t Trust Carly and Neither Should You

Diary)  |  Source Article

Carly FiorinaTwo weeks after 9/11, on September 26, 2001, Carly Fiorina gave a speech, “Technology, Business and Our Way of Life: What’s Next,” in which she tied courage, leadership, heroes, and “the questions of life and death” to business leaders learning from one of the greatest civilization to ever exist: Islamic civilization. Her claims evidence her exceptional ineptitude or blatant, galling, willful deceit.

Consider her claims about Islam and America. She says, America is “indebted” to the Islamic civilization, whose “gifts are very much a part of our heritage.”

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson would agree, in that they commissioned merchant marines, the Marine Corp, and the Navy to defend America from Islamic invaders.

Consider her claims about the Ottoman Empire.

1. “When other nations were afraid of ideas, this civilization thrived on them, and kept them alive. When censors threatened to wipe out knowledge from past civilizations, this civilization kept the knowledge alive, and passed it on to others.”

Censorship did exist, but under Suleiman’s rule and Islamic Shari’a law, which, is exactly what Islamists are seeking to reinstate today.

2. Under Suleiman three continents were “allowed a degree of peace and prosperity that had never been known.” And, the “Islamic world from the year 800 to 1600, which included the Ottoman Empire and the courts of Baghdad, Damascus and Cairo, and enlightened rulers like Suleiman the Magnificent … contributed to our notions of tolerance and civic leadership.”

One need only read historical evidence of Suleiman’s numerous military conquests, whose methods are nearly identical to those of ISIS.

3. The Ottoman Empire “was driven more than anything, by invention. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers, and the creation of encryption.”

And, 4.: America’s technology industry “would not exist without the contributions of Arab mathematicians.”

The Spartans, Leon Battista Alberti, and Thomas Jefferson were the inventors of encryption; and they weren’t Islamists.

Charles Babbage, an English mathematician, philosopher, mechanical engineer, and scientist originated the concept of a programmable computer in 1822, which he built upon in 1837. He also designed a printer.

Centuries earlier, in 1597, Galileo invented and established a factory that constructed instruments to perform trigonometric calculations, multiplication and division, square and cube root, comparison of areas and volumes, currency exchange rates, monetary interest, and various military problems.

Neither Babbage nor Galileo were Islamists.

Where did Carly come up with this nonsense—from talking to Aladdin on a magical carpet ride?

For the truth, however, Islamabad writer Dr. Farrukh Saleem pointed out in 2005 indisputable facts about the Islamic world.

Today, the 57 Islamic countries are the world’s poorest and most illiterate:

  • The GDP of 57 Muslim countries is less than $2 trillion;
  • Muslims comprise roughly 22 percent of the world’s population but only produce less than 5 percent of global GDP;
  • 20 percent of Arabs live on less than $2 per day;
  • The average growth rate of per capita income in the Arab world hovers around .5 percent per year [worse than everywhere else except for sub-Saharan Africa];
  • 60 percent of Muslims worldwide are illiterate;
  • 50 percent of Arab women cannot read.

Dr. Javaid Laghari adds that 40 percent of the Muslim states’ population falls below the poverty line.

Today, the 57 Islamic countries contribute the least to scientific and technological advancement, let alone have computers or use the Internet. Saleem points out that over a period of more than 105 years, only two (2) Muslims won the Nobel Peace Prize. (They studied Physics and Chemistry in Italy, the U.K., and California). Only eight (8) Muslims are Nobel Laureates.

Shouldn’t a leader of Hewlett-Packard have known at the time of her speech that of the entire Arab population, only:

  • 1 percent has a personal computer—and;
  • .5 percent uses the Internet.

To reiterate the facts, the 57 Islamic countries are the world’s poorest, most illiterate, and contribute the least to scientific and technological advancement, let alone have computers or use the Internet.

Yet—this future—represented by the achievements of Islamic civilizations, is what Carly suggested should be America’s hope. Two weeks after 9/11.

A former CEO who “created a larger company with more debt,” laid off 30,000 employees, expanded Hewlett-Packard’s outsourcing while not offering a solution to reverse America’s trade deficit, pointed to poverty and illiteracy as the source of America’s hope.

Worse still, what business leader, or any leader for that matter, would point to the very civilization as an example of America’s hope, which had just attacked it two weeks earlier?

Politics, historical facts, and leadership aside, on the matter of “life and death,” which she mentions—for 9/11 survivors—like myself—or the few Christians who have survived genocide in 57 Islamic countries and violence throughout Europe, or kidnapped and trafficked little girls, Carly’s remarks could not be more offensive.

Perhaps she should move to Saudi Arabia where women are prohibited from driving; or Iran, where women are prohibited from working.

Her speech 14 years ago only reveals that Carly has been flying on a mystical magical carpet to nowhere for years.

So, one should ask one’s self, “Do I want another person in the Whitehouse that is friendly with the enemy?”

The Nuclear Deal with Iran by Dennis Prager

Dennis Prager is my hero.  He’s the smartest, informed, common sense person I know.  Anytime he approaches a topic, he always makes sense.  And once again, this brief video of his take on the Iran ‘deal’ makes all the sense in the world…  to me.  What concerns me is that we are repeating bad decisions from the past — again.

In this particular case I sincerely hope he’s wrong…  but I doubt it.

Agenda 21 — Alive and Well ‘In Texas’

Agenda 21 has been around for several years, but the American public to a large degree is still totally unaware of its existence, much less what it stands for.  The American Policy Center was formed to help fight this insidious effort to take over the country.  The Agenda 21 crowd is just another label for the communist party within the U.S.  If you don’t know what this group is or what it stands for, you should watch the short video below presented on Fox news.  Although you may leap to the assumption that they are targeting the leftist states only, you would be surprised that they have made significant headway into TEXAS!  Already, Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio (among others) have signed up and implemented the program for their cities!

Our Future Airforce 1 — Trumpette Tour

I am hearing far too many people applauding Donald Trump for his ‘brave’ stance in politics and how he is the one person who will make a difference in this country’s direction.  Apparently the American public is:  a)  All on drugs;  b)  Sound asleep;  c)  Totally deluded;  or  d)  Insane.  My vote goes to ‘D’.  Today’s American citizen is apparently using the same brain as the one who put Obama in office.  They voted for ‘hope and change’ — they got change.  Hope is rapidly waning.  The fundamental transformation of the U.S. is well along.

People have (rightly) worried about our current president attempting a take-over of this country and to declare himself the dictator of American.  (Which he has done to some extent already.)  The majority of Americans see him as an arrogant, dictatorial person who sees himself as a ‘king’ worthy of an opulent lifestyle.  i.e., Vacations worth millions on tax payer’s backs.

Today, those same people are praising Trump and lauding him as the one and only real candidate for president.  One would hope that they would consider his obvious personality traits:  arrogant, opinionated, dictatorial, ruthless, dishonest, wavering in character, and extremely ambitious.  I mean, in the thirties people used to think Mussolini was a swell guy too, but look how that turned out!

If you need further convincing to open your eyes, consider the following video.  Ask yourself, is this the sort of non-Reagan style person you want for your next president..?

Why Our Country is in Trouble

Some things should be obvious — even in today’s society.  We have argued over abortion in this country for decades.  Is it a black and white issue?  In my opinion, no.  But reason and common sense should prevail at some point!!?  I mean really, have we really needed to kill over 60 million infants in the U.S. via abortion since the 70’s.??  Using such an alternative such as abortion could be arguable in extreme cases, but 60M?

So now we’re selling baby parts for experimentation and ‘chop-shops’ are selling those parts for profit.  ‘Shut the front door’!!  Now you’d think we could all get together on this issue, right?  Noop.  Well, at least the ‘conservatives’ would agree right?  Noop.  Hard to believe?  Read the following article on this subject and ask yourself, “Why is our country going to hell?”  This should explain a LOT.

Two GOP Senators Oppose Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood

Do you think that perhaps money is an issue here?  Maybe helps some people make up their minds?  I’m not sure what’s going to turn this ship around, but my guess is it won’t be pretty..?

Tocqueville Predicted Our Future

About 200 years ago Alexis Tocqueville visited America to learn what was different about our country.  We were of course, the leading and growing country of the world at the time.  A success story to be told for others to learn from.

The following article relates his findings as they relate to our modern time here in America.  Back then he saw us as a template for success.  One must ask what he would think now..?  Are we truly a republic or a democracy like Greece — a pack of fools looking for their next handout.  People wanting what is ‘free’ — unlike themselves today.  Americans are slow learners.  My guess at this point is it will take a sharp rap on the knuckles before the public wakes up to their imminent demise.

Back in 1831, Alexis de Tocqueville accurately foresaw both much of what ails us and our remarkable uniqueness and strengths. Tocqueville’s deservedly famous book, “Democracy in America,” was the product of his nine-month excursion throughout Jacksonian America. The purpose of this trip was to study our country’s political institution and the habits of mind of its citizens.

America’s Place in the World

Tocqueville correctly thought the then-developing America was the way of the future. As such, he foresaw that Europe would never be restored to its former greatness—though he hoped it could serve as the cultural repository of the West.

He also predicted Russian despotism, thinking that Russia was not yet morally exhausted like Europe and would bring about a new, massive tyranny. In fact, he conjectured that America and Russia would each “hold the destinies of half the world in its hands one day.”

The majority’s moral power makes individuals internally ashamed to contradict it, which in effect silences them, and this silencing culminates in a cessation of thinking.

He therefore hoped America would serve as an example to the world—a successful combination of equality and liberty. And an example of this was needed, since equality can go along with freedom, but it can even more easily go along with despotism. In fact, much of the world did go in the direction of democratic despotism—wherein the great mass of citizens is indeed equal, save for a ruling elite, which governs them. In a strange sense, Tocqueville would think that North Korea is egalitarian.

Despite his hopes for America, Tocqueville thought grave obstacles would diminish our freedom—though he didn’t think them insurmountable.

The Power of the Majority

Most alarming to him was the power of the majority, which he thought would distort every sphere of human life.

Despots of the past tyrannized through blood and iron. But the new breed of democratic despotism “does not proceed in this way; it leaves the body and goes straight for the soul.”

That is, the majority reaches into citizens’ minds and hearts. It breaks citizens’ will to resist, to question its authority, and to think for themselves. The majority’s moral power makes individuals internally ashamed to contradict it, which in effect silences them, and this silencing culminates in a cessation of thinking. We see this happen almost daily: to stand against the majority is to ruin yourself.

Moreover, Tocqueville feared that the majority’s tastes and opinions would occupy every sphere of sentiment and thought. One among many illuminating examples is his commentary on democratic art. He foresaw that the majority would have no taste for portraying great human beings doing great deeds. Art used to be the pictorial representation of man’s connection to the natural or divine order to which he belongs. But in modern democracies, art would go in the direction of the majority’s tastes: it would be abstract, focused on color and shape.

Why? Because to experience this kind of art, one needs to only have senses, whereas to experience the art of the past, one needs an education in the classics—the Bible and ancient literature especially. It’s easy to pontificate about Jackson Pollock, while it’s difficult to understand Michelangelo. But most revealing is that abstract art is an expression of democracy’s hatred for human greatness, the very theme of art.

Tocqueville’s Predictions About the Modern State

The influence on the mind of democracy and the majority weakens and isolates individuals. This creates fertile ground for a new kind of oppression that “will resemble nothing that has preceded it in the world.”

Tocqueville foresaw an “immense tutelary power”—the modern state—which would degrade men rather than destroy their bodies. Over time, he feared, the state would take away citizens’ free will, their capacity to think and act, reducing them to “a herd of timid and industrious animals of which the government is the shepherd.” Are contemporary China and Russia substantially different?

But Tocqueville did prescribe some solutions. He hoped that those having read his prescient book would come to understand that the defects of modern democracy require great attention and careful management. Specifically, he hoped, we would strive “to preserve for the individual the little independence, force, and originality” that remains to him.

In other words, when looking at any given policy, our lawmakers might look not at the benefits for their home district, or vainly calculate attention from the next media hit, but rather look at what any given policy proposal’s long-term effect will be on securing freedom and rights. Making individuals stronger, more independent, more able to resist the tyranny of the majority and of a constantly growing administrative state is the goal.

Tocqueville’s critiques are given in the spirit of friendship. He wanted us to “remember constantly that a nation cannot long remain strong when each man in it is individually weak, and that neither social forms nor political schemes have yet been found that can make a people energetic by composing it of pusillanimous and soft citizens.”

On the 210th anniversary of Tocqueville’s birth, asking contemporary Americans to pick up “Democracy in America” is perhaps too great a request. Nonetheless, we may at the least recall his clarity of vision and take seriously that America requires statesmanship and intelligent guidance to fight off the natural propensities that diminish our freedom.
