Google and Its Impact on Knowledge

During the reign of Hitler, there were several approaches of gaining information on the ‘targeted few’ — e.g., Jews.  The Gestapo was their primary ‘tool’ used with physical documents being the key sources (or spying).  (Since computers weren’t invented yet.)

Today however, we have Google!!  If the federal government wants any information, all they need to do is ask.  Just a few years ago you’d need a warrant signed by a judge before you received anything from a tech company.  But apparently the rules are changing.  The following article discusses Google and what it is doing and how it can affect us. Scary stuff indeed.

Jobs in The U.S. & Outsourcing

Outsourcing — once an unknown word.  Now an ugly word to anyone working in the IT industry.  But hey, computing itself is an ugly word if you’re in IT any more.

In the 60’s computers were just getting started in the business world.  I remember thinking, “Well this new career path is helping me, but what’s it doing to the other people?”  As we created more innovative systems to ‘replace people’, I couldn’t help but wonder where all of this was going..?  People were outraged at the fact that their work was being ‘downsized’ using computers.

But not to worry!  “There will be higher paying jobs in the future in the IT industry for you to go to!”  (For awhile)  Then came outsourcing.  The simpler programming jobs started to get outsourced to India.  Time marched on and then various forms of more technical support started to move to other countries.  Now today there are very limited high paying jobs available within the United States.  Using IBM as an example, here’s how things size up in their case.

  • 1990 — There were 400,000 employees within IBM worldwide – 250K within the U.S.
  • 1993 — Layoffs started and 150K employees were dumped
  • 1994 — American jobs started to move offshore
  • 2002 — The entire Help center was in India with rare exceptions;  The entire networking support was in South America; Major operating systems support was being moved offshore;  DB2 (database management software) was being moved to China;  IMS (hierarchical database system software) support was being migrated to Russia;  etc., etc.
  • 2016 — IBM once again has 400K employees world wide, but around 60K or less are employed ‘here’!  And, they are in the process of dumping even more American employees — primarily over 40!!

Now you might ask, how could they violate basic employment rules?  Good question.  Why do we not know the current number of people employed within the U.S.?  Once again, treachery is keeping that information from the citizens of this country.  IBM is currently listing laid off employees as ‘retired’ if they have enough years with the company.  Hence, their federally monitored counts are skewed.  Who cares?  Because the more people they layoff, the more perks the employees are supposed to get by government mandate.

What’s your point you ask?  That corporate America is becoming as corrupt as our government.  And to what would we attribute this to?  A lack of consistent moral or ethical character.  (Easily learned by reading the original user’s guide — the bible.  But then since Bill Clinton was in office we learned that “character doesn’t count”.  And ever since our country has made a sharp turn downward.  And yet people are still wondering where their next job will come from.  Tomorrow that won’t be their primary question, it will be more like where their next meal will come from!!

Fasten your seat belt, the next few years will be a very wild ride!!

Future Freetime Use..?

Everyone is busy!  No one wants to waste a second in the 21st century.  It’s run, run, run.  No wonder a large percentage of the population is Type-A and ADHD.

Today all of the auto manufacturers are busy trying to get to the perfect driverless car!!  Staying within lines or self parking is not good enough.  Driverless is the goal!

So one should ask, “What are we to do with that ‘free time’ gained by this new technology?”  The Canadian Automated Vehicles Centre of Excellence has a thought on the subject.  Read the following article from CBC News in Canada.

Self-driving features

Based on this report, I would expect to see people in the next 10-20 years more often named Mercedes, et al..?

When is WWIII?

I’ve been telling people for over 30 years when world war three will happen.  And almost to a person I’ve been told, “You’re nuts!”  To help insure my insanity plea, I have followed that with who would be attacking us — Russia and China.

So let’s start with the ‘when’ part of my crazy rant.  Throughout history, wars have been fought for numerous reasons.  But one of the key reasons out of that list has been over things of value — i.e., money/wealth.  Typically this is because of greed or economic disaster.  Today the world is facing an economic disaster.  When you are hungry, that sounds like a personal problem.  But when I am hungry, that’s a different matter.  The worst case is when we both are hungry — then the fun really begins.

Without going into detail, many countries around the world today are facing economic ruin — and that includes us!  Debt is piling up at an unprecedented rate all over the world.  When that happens war is usually not too far behind, much like WWII.  Although the reason(s) were different then, the end result was the same — anger and hunger for power.

So why Russia and China?  They’re both enemies, no?  This question can be answered with an old cliche — ‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend.’  Today the U.S. is the enemy of both Russia and China.  It may not be obvious, but they both have their reasons.

But China depends on our buying ‘stuff’.  They wouldn’t attack us.  They depend on us, no?  All of which has been true.  But things are changing.  China’s economy is imploding.  And unlike the U.S., they have a communist system of government.  When the people of China (many millions) get hungry, they get mad at the ‘party‘.  The communist party (the elite) typically find a scapegoat for their people direct their anger.  Today that ‘goat’ would be America!

Now put that together with a regime which is struggling to stay alive (Russia) and who has dreams of becoming a world power.  Add in the fact that the U.S. has demonstrated themselves to be weak and unable/willing to protect themselves for almost a decade.  What we have is a formula for big trouble.

Lastly when these powers join forces, they do not intend to do so indefinitely.  They are, in my opinion, going to play ‘king of the mountain’.  The two strong countries, willing to fight, gang up on the weak current leader.  Then once they’ve toppled that leader, they fight to see which of the two challengers will ultimately be the world power.

Given the above arguments, add in the fact that both of those powers have been building their war machines for 10-15 years in overdrive!  (Faster than Hitler before WWII.)  Not with troops, but technology.  I don’t think it is unreasonable to estimate a significant war effort within the next ten years or sooner.  Time will tell.  But believe me, you will hear ‘I told you so’ from me…  assuming I’m still around..?

Need more evidence?  Read the following report on what those two countries are up to now.  Believe me, you will see more on this topic from the media in the future when it is so scary that they can’t hide it any more.

The Power Two & U.S. Satellites

During the Iraq war, China’s military were amazed on how fast we accomplished so much in so little time.  Their conclusion?  The giant had good vision – satellites in the sky.  Information and communications goes a long way on a battlefield.  And what they learned is, if we poke the eyes of the giant he will be blind.  Then we have a chance to beat him.  Well folks, here’s their answer to winning…?

The Land of the Free..?

Within the last few years we have learned the ‘new meaning’ of drones.  We now hear about them all of the time.  But, that may come to an end …  soon.  With our cancerous federal government seeing a new ‘entity’ to attack, they have determined it is a potential new source of money and opportunity to imprison those who value their liberty.

Think these are strong words and unsupported?  OK, let’s use this analogy.  Let’s say you go next door and punch your neighbor in the nose — just for grins.  What sort of punishment do you think you’d get?  Alright now let’s compare that to flying a drone less than ‘one pound‘ in the air without registering it first with the furor’s bureaucracy.  Let’s see what you’d get for that..?!

Government Drone Registry

So how’s that work for you..?  Welcome to the 21st century America — the home of the scared!

Communications — Russia’s Intent?

For years now I’ve suggested that one day in the future Russia would be our ‘defined‘ enemy.  My assumption is that all doubt would be removed one day by their aggressive move(s).  It may be that the treat is looming larger every day..?

The following article tells of a very large exposure to America which could cripple not only us, but many other countries simultaneously — which would be a very scary proposition.  Many may think that we, the supreme strength of the world, could hardly fall prey to attacks by such a weak foe.  That surely our government has our back and that there are countermeasures just waiting to protect our way of life.

However, we are currently exposed to EMPs and the feds have as yet spent twenty cents to protect our grid — and millions of American lives.  If we are exposed to the potential of losing 90% of the American public to an EMP, how much effort do you think they would expend to protect our internet access and economy..?

The article by Reuters describes our latest exposure.

U.S. concerned by Russian operations

This concern is all over the world by the way.  Europe is just as concerned as indicated by the number of articles from news media overseas.

A Potential New Energy Source

The world has been using fossil fuels for millions of years to heat their homes and power machinery.  One of the best ‘engines’ of today is the nuclear reactor.  However, there’s a new source of energy on the horizon — thorium fueled reactors.

Imagine a fuel source that is less expensive, safer, creates no environment hostile gases, etc. and there is a limitless supply of it.  Why heck, the Iranians could shut down their operations creating ‘nuclear energy’.!!?   :-)

Watch this video on what it is, how it works, and its potential for the world.  It would be great to think we could have these in just a few years, but then we’d have to get around politicians, bureaucrats, and greedy capitalists..!?

Thorium Reactors

For information on this topic, do a search in YouTube.com using the words ‘Thorium Reactors’ in the search box. You will learn more on this subject.  Such as this solution has been around since the 60’s!!  What was I saying.?!

Motivation and Character

When choosing a person for a presidential position in this country, we should consider ‘what motivated them’ to do or say what they have in the past — not to mention now.  This is part of the ‘actions speak louder than words’ cliche.

Carly Fiorina is one of the leading candidates that we are supposed to be ‘vetting’ (ourselves) now.  What does the American public know about this woman other than she recently worked for H.P.?  (According to my son-in-law she almost ruined the company before she left!)  So why would we want her to be the country’s leader?  And one more thing, we have a serious problem with terrorism in this country.  Ever wonder what her views are on Islam?

The following article is copied from Redstate.com and it gives us some insight into who this woman is or how/if she thinks.

Why I Don’t Trust Carly and Neither Should You

Diary)  |  Source Article

Carly FiorinaTwo weeks after 9/11, on September 26, 2001, Carly Fiorina gave a speech, “Technology, Business and Our Way of Life: What’s Next,” in which she tied courage, leadership, heroes, and “the questions of life and death” to business leaders learning from one of the greatest civilization to ever exist: Islamic civilization. Her claims evidence her exceptional ineptitude or blatant, galling, willful deceit.

Consider her claims about Islam and America. She says, America is “indebted” to the Islamic civilization, whose “gifts are very much a part of our heritage.”

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson would agree, in that they commissioned merchant marines, the Marine Corp, and the Navy to defend America from Islamic invaders.

Consider her claims about the Ottoman Empire.

1. “When other nations were afraid of ideas, this civilization thrived on them, and kept them alive. When censors threatened to wipe out knowledge from past civilizations, this civilization kept the knowledge alive, and passed it on to others.”

Censorship did exist, but under Suleiman’s rule and Islamic Shari’a law, which, is exactly what Islamists are seeking to reinstate today.

2. Under Suleiman three continents were “allowed a degree of peace and prosperity that had never been known.” And, the “Islamic world from the year 800 to 1600, which included the Ottoman Empire and the courts of Baghdad, Damascus and Cairo, and enlightened rulers like Suleiman the Magnificent … contributed to our notions of tolerance and civic leadership.”

One need only read historical evidence of Suleiman’s numerous military conquests, whose methods are nearly identical to those of ISIS.

3. The Ottoman Empire “was driven more than anything, by invention. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers, and the creation of encryption.”

And, 4.: America’s technology industry “would not exist without the contributions of Arab mathematicians.”

The Spartans, Leon Battista Alberti, and Thomas Jefferson were the inventors of encryption; and they weren’t Islamists.

Charles Babbage, an English mathematician, philosopher, mechanical engineer, and scientist originated the concept of a programmable computer in 1822, which he built upon in 1837. He also designed a printer.

Centuries earlier, in 1597, Galileo invented and established a factory that constructed instruments to perform trigonometric calculations, multiplication and division, square and cube root, comparison of areas and volumes, currency exchange rates, monetary interest, and various military problems.

Neither Babbage nor Galileo were Islamists.

Where did Carly come up with this nonsense—from talking to Aladdin on a magical carpet ride?

For the truth, however, Islamabad writer Dr. Farrukh Saleem pointed out in 2005 indisputable facts about the Islamic world.

Today, the 57 Islamic countries are the world’s poorest and most illiterate:

  • The GDP of 57 Muslim countries is less than $2 trillion;
  • Muslims comprise roughly 22 percent of the world’s population but only produce less than 5 percent of global GDP;
  • 20 percent of Arabs live on less than $2 per day;
  • The average growth rate of per capita income in the Arab world hovers around .5 percent per year [worse than everywhere else except for sub-Saharan Africa];
  • 60 percent of Muslims worldwide are illiterate;
  • 50 percent of Arab women cannot read.

Dr. Javaid Laghari adds that 40 percent of the Muslim states’ population falls below the poverty line.

Today, the 57 Islamic countries contribute the least to scientific and technological advancement, let alone have computers or use the Internet. Saleem points out that over a period of more than 105 years, only two (2) Muslims won the Nobel Peace Prize. (They studied Physics and Chemistry in Italy, the U.K., and California). Only eight (8) Muslims are Nobel Laureates.

Shouldn’t a leader of Hewlett-Packard have known at the time of her speech that of the entire Arab population, only:

  • 1 percent has a personal computer—and;
  • .5 percent uses the Internet.

To reiterate the facts, the 57 Islamic countries are the world’s poorest, most illiterate, and contribute the least to scientific and technological advancement, let alone have computers or use the Internet.

Yet—this future—represented by the achievements of Islamic civilizations, is what Carly suggested should be America’s hope. Two weeks after 9/11.

A former CEO who “created a larger company with more debt,” laid off 30,000 employees, expanded Hewlett-Packard’s outsourcing while not offering a solution to reverse America’s trade deficit, pointed to poverty and illiteracy as the source of America’s hope.

Worse still, what business leader, or any leader for that matter, would point to the very civilization as an example of America’s hope, which had just attacked it two weeks earlier?

Politics, historical facts, and leadership aside, on the matter of “life and death,” which she mentions—for 9/11 survivors—like myself—or the few Christians who have survived genocide in 57 Islamic countries and violence throughout Europe, or kidnapped and trafficked little girls, Carly’s remarks could not be more offensive.

Perhaps she should move to Saudi Arabia where women are prohibited from driving; or Iran, where women are prohibited from working.

Her speech 14 years ago only reveals that Carly has been flying on a mystical magical carpet to nowhere for years.

So, one should ask one’s self, “Do I want another person in the Whitehouse that is friendly with the enemy?”

Google Customer Tracking

The book ‘1984’ sounded pretty much out there a few decades ago.  But now it seems pretty tame by comparison to where we really are today.!  Knowing where you are right now, is pretty scary.  But Google has the ability to tell those who want to know where you have been!  Read the following article and then consider turning ‘Location’ off on your cell phone.

Google’s ‘Timeline’ Feature

Something to consider when weighing whether you really need that function for the cute little app you just installed.!?
